New year, new beginnings! We have created a little niche because everyone needs a gaggle, and we now have Farmer Cycles. So excited and enjoying the camaraderie.
The first race of 2022 brought 34 motos and Farmer Cycles represented at Burlington BMX! The day was overcast and very windy, but the temps were in the mid-70s all day. A big contrast to the year before for the first race of the year in Burlington – it had been very cold and raining all day.
Chris and Kristy ran both cruiser and 20″. Elliot, Nathan, Jude, Kendall, and Allie all ran 20-inch. Kristy earned two first place trophies. Elliot and Nathan also walked away with firsts. Chris took a #2 in cruiser and a 3rd place in class. Kendal earned 2rd, Jude a 3rd, and Allie rounds out the day with a 5th place finish.
- Chris – 2nd (cruiser) / 3rd (class)
- Kristy – 1st (both cruiser/class)
- Elliot – 1st
- Nathan – 1st
- Kendall – 2nd
- Jude – 3rd
- Allie – 5th
While the awards were being handed out, there was a run on trophies, and it seems Nathan and Elliot jumped in front of Kristy, worried that they wouldn’t get theirs because she earned two! They actually ran out of 2nd place trophies, so Kendal had to settle for stamps.
Thoughts on the day:
- as one gets a little older, he (or she) may need a little extra time to run back-to-back motos – but the efforts were commendable
- everyone could use the indomitable mindset of Elliot – coming out of 3rd turn, “oh no, buddy, you are NOT catching me,” “see ya”
- Nate may be about ready for the expert class. With this 19th intermediate win, he was not fighting for position, he just took it
- Jude illustrates the beauty of enjoying the sport in the midst of great effort
